Do you want to step up your advocacy skills and educate decision-makers about barriers and obstacles that people with disabilities face every day?
The Coalition of Texans with Disabilities (CTD) is recruiting people with disabilities and their family members who are interested in learning about Texas legislative advocacy. We are offering a program of training and advocacy events, with opportunities for on-the-job training during the 88th Texas Legislature starting in January of 2023.
If you want to take the next steps into the Texas Legislature in a supportive, low-pressure environment, this is it!
The A-Corps offerings:
Virtual training sessions on navigating the Texas legislature:
-
Storytelling & Advocacy, Wednesday, April 19. View the recording.
Storytelling is a powerful part of delivering legislative testimony. During this training, attendees learned about the key dimensions of storytelling, and how to transform those dimensions into impactful testimony.
-
Additional trainings on interim advocacy to be announced.
Join and apply lessons in our Raise Your Voice (RYV) virtual calls with advocates all across the state. Mondays at 2pm CT on Zoom, register separately.
Demographic data MAY be requested for grant purposes and is optional.
There are no registration fees associated with this program.
CTD will:
- Provide excellent training in policy issues and advocacy skills. We’ll explain the issues, how the issues should be addressed, and methods you can use to make your message heard.
- Connect with you to support your retention and success.
- Provide additional advocacy training opportunities. The A-Corps is part of a five-year grant, and return participants will be welcome!
